Today from the start I new that it would be a confronting day. I visited the Dachau concentration camp. Simply put, it is quite chilling how death and punishment was really a chore for the SS. It was a duty to the nation to cleanse itself of Jews, homosexuals, gypsies. Basically wash off all the 'scum' of Germany and be left with the perfect Aryan family making babies for none other than Yours Truly, the Führer.
There were heaps of tourists and they came from everywhere - Russia, America, Spain, Italy, Germany. I think the most chilling place was where the bodies were burnt. and where the dead bodies were held before they were burnt. I got very emotional when I entered the room full of plaques of remembrance and read the 2 plaques in Ukrainian.
Later I went to the city and had some lunch and then went exploring again. I heard for the first time a woman speak clean Ukrainian without saying anything in Russian. I visited 2 Churches. One of the Churches had candles that were not wax, but refillable canisters of alcohol, I found that an ingenious idea, probably made them even more money than usual. The Catholic Church, always on the lookout for money where there is to be made!
I don't have any plans for New Years yet, I have been invited to Neustadt but I am not really sure, I am going to have to think it over.
